Into Journalling

Hello fellow bloggers, it has been awhile but sometimes other things get in the way. I have been creating some pages for the club's swap/challenge and have also received some pages in return. These are the pages that I created.

 Julie asked for a tree growing in this area so I stitched a Bunya Pine tree.

 

Kim wanted some bright flowers for her journal.

 Lesley asked for fruit so bananas it was for me.

 



 June asked for something to remind her of her garden with birds and trees and shrubs.

 

Gail called her page to be The Colours of Broome and had a photo to use as a guide.

Gayle wanted anything that you could call Blue, so nothing better then an Aussie Flag for me.

 

These are the pages that I received. My theme was Native flora or Fauna.

I think they are so lovely and will be a wonderful keepsake with lots of memories. I have put them together into a journal and created a front cover for the journal. I also hand dyed the fabric for the background.

Holiday travels

At home again after a fantastic time travelling around Tasmania. We went there to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, so left the van behind and flew and hired a vehicle and drove around at our own pace and visiting places that appealed to us. Lots of walking to see the sights but all worth it when we reached the point of interest.

I had some help from Hayley and Cody to celebrate my birthday. They were very happy to see us when we got home from our holiday.

 

The quilting club is having a mystery quilt project. I thought it would be good to use some forgotten fabrics so was very happy to be able to select fabrics that were waiting for that moment when they would be put to good use. The mystery will be revealed on the 3rd sewing day.

 

Xmas gifts

Over the Christmas New Year break I managed to make a couple more hats for the grandchildren. I got them involved with tracing and cutting out the pattern. They also selected their favourite fabric. It was a bit of a hectic time this year as the grandchildren are all getting a bit older and look for more attention so I had to keep them busy.

 

Then a little platypus for the baby. These toy patterns are really cute to make.

I also gave this quilt to little Saxon who is 15 months old. It looked great when it was quilted, Betty did a super job with the quilting for it.







 

Sewing for gifts

I have been busy doing a little sewing for the grandchildren. I love these hats, I made this Lightening Mcqueen one for Cody and I had to be quick to get a photo with him before he went home.

Another hat that will go to another little grandson.I turned the brim up on this one but think I should fold it down. The hats are reversible too.

A little boys quilt

At last I finished putting this top together, now I just need to quilt it, although I seem to have a couple of other things on the go that I also would like to sew. The pattern is one that I made up as I went along.It was a panel that I had for the centre blocks so I cut out the pictures and then framed them using primary colours.

I have a little one year old grandson and think it will probably go to him for Christmas.

Sewing time

This is something I have had for some time when the Grand kids started to come along, then as time went by it got put aside but now there have been acouple more arrivals I have pulled it back out of the cupboard.

This is another project that I have also started. I have a colection of bali fabrics and whenI saw this pattern I thought it would be good to use some of the bali fabrics.

Back home

We are back home again after a lovely break and some warm weather but we have been reminded about how cold it can be. Hopefully it will not be too long before we start to feel the spring and see the blossoms come out. A sight I always enjoy.
We went inland up to the Undara lava tubes and as far north as Cooktown then back down the coast doing some of the touristy things along the way.

I also took time to do a little shopping and collect a few memories. Since I have been back after catching up on the garden and a few other things I had to make the pattern that I bought while away.

I thought he was really cute. The pattern is from Pauline at Funky Friends Factory and she designs and makes patterns for all sorts of animals.

 

Little Hayley my GD has also been visiting each afternoon after school now and also wanted to make something, so a small bag was made under her instructions and of course she wanted to use the machine to sew. The bag was then a show and tell item at school the next day, although not finished quite the way I would have liked but not to worry, she liked it and the books fitted in the bag.
