Sewing box

I have finished my sewing box after doing a workshop with Michelle Hill. I will use it to store sewing things in.

This is also another finish. It is a Sylvia Pippen design of Australian Native flowers.

All hand appliqued and Sashiko stitching, machine quilted.

Michele Hill Trunk show

During the week the club held a trunk show by Michele Hill. She shared her quilting journey and displayed her quilts. They were magnificent to see and appreciate the fine detail she includes in her work.

The next day we had a workshop conducted by Michele. It was her last workshop and is retiring from teaching. It was a mystery workshop so when the mystery was revealed it was a fabric covered box with machine embroidery design on the top and front. I am eager to complete it as it will be useful to store some sewing things in. I will post a photo of the box when I complete it, not much to show yet.

Travels to Victoria

My sewing seems to have been put away for awhile as other things keep coming along, last month we travelled to Victoria and spent time in the Snowy Mountains . It is a lovely place to visit and explore. We also went to the Man From Snowy River festival our main reason for going south. It was a fantastic week. We are home again now so might get back to doing some sewing again.

Next project

This has been on the waiting list for sometime now, it is a paper pieced pattern which I have decided to tackle. After reading the instructions a few times and making a start on it, the piecing is coming along nicely. Not as difficult as I thought.

The pattern has all the papers with it, just had to cut them out and prepare them for the piecing.

 

UFO

This week I have finished putting together this quilt top which I started in a workshop with Lisa Walton last year. The workshop was her Fantastic Fusion class. It will need lots of quilting to hold the pieces together as there are no seams, it is all fused together. It will be a good opportunity to practise some free motion quilting.

Welcome 2017

A big hello to all the bloggers. I have told myself I am going to blog more often, as I find it very inspirational seeing  some of the things everyone makes. They are really lovely.
These are a few of the things that I have made or completed over the last few months. Once I start on something I like to continue albeit on and off till it is finished.

 I made another hat for the latest grandson for Christmas.

This was a mystery quilt which I made and machine quilted, all from fabric stored in the cupboard!

This is a wallet  made for Cody in his favourite spiderman fabric.

 And Hayley also got one with Frozen fabric. They were very happy to have  them.
