Xmas gifts

Over the Christmas New Year break I managed to make a couple more hats for the grandchildren. I got them involved with tracing and cutting out the pattern. They also selected their favourite fabric. It was a bit of a hectic time this year as the grandchildren are all getting a bit older and look for more attention so I had to keep them busy.

Then a little platypus for the baby. These toy patterns are really cute to make.

I also gave this quilt to little Saxon who is 15 months old. It looked great when it was quilted, Betty did a super job with the quilting for it.

A couple of finishes

Finally I got my piece finished for the Toowoomba Quilters Exhibition Botanica display. This is a memory of our trip last year through the Kimberleys in WA.

This is the product of a workshop which I attended with Lisa Walton, we started with a  plain white piece of fabric and then did sun printing, painting and rubbings with shiva stiks then we collaged the pieces of fabric. I have named this Colours of Australia. It reminds me of the diversity of the Australian landscape.

Recently I retired from work ( after 25 years)and was presented with this lovely bunch of flowers, a gift card to go shopping with and a signed card from fellow workmates. I am busier then ever but I am enjoying some sewing time now, and the garden has also received some much needed attention too.

Some sewing

At last I have got to doing a bit of sewing, I made 2 library bags for the grand kids this week and got them in the post for them to receive next week.

They chose the fabrics before they went home after having a holiday with us. Bailey likes motor bikes and dinosaurs. Mikayla likes Dora and also chose the golliwog fabric.I also lined the bags with calico to make them a bit more sturdier.

Backpack

I have slowly been making some gifts for Christmas. I have a little granddaughter who loves all things with Dora on them, so I came across some Dora fabric and made backpack for her. She starts school next year so maybe the backpack will come in handy.

So of course I had to make another one for her brother who loves Dinosaurs, so I have made a library bag for him. They will be in the same class next year.

Then I had this pattern for a basket to go with the table runner that I made earlier in the year so I have made it up to go on the table for Christmas, possibly with a few sweets or nibbles to go in it should look good.

I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and an enjoyable time with your family. It is always great to catch up with family at this time of the year.
